Dry Dock 2014/2015

Hello

The boat was pulled from the water this past Saturday with the following tasks in mind:
Paint the bottom
PropSpeed on the propeller and shaft
Polish the hull
Paint the three stripes

So far everything is going according to plan, but I noticed a hairline crack in the filler around the hull/keel joint do I ground it all out and will replace it with thickened epoxy.  I also decided to restore all of the teak, including the swim ladder and pulpit.

On the "hard"

Keel stripped back. 3M 5200 along the seam, red oxide primer on the bare lead.

Because of the pace I'm moving, most of these photos will be "after". Simply no time to stop, and I'm simply too filthy to reach for my camera.

UPDATE 10/01/15

Relaunch!!  Two weeks of toil:

I appealed to Poseiden to welcome Wireless with some Johnny Walker Red (we shared it!).

So pleased to be back on the water!!

  1. The solar panel installation looks good but I have to wonder how effective it can be in that position. I have two 75 watt panels mounted atop davits on my Nonsuch 30U. They work quite well in that position as they get to look at the sun throughout the day and with no shade from the boat. They keep my house bank charged through out the season with the refrigerator running continually (cold beer always, etc) unless we have an extended period of cloudiness which forces me to use shore power or engine for a little while. My previous house bank (4x6volt golf cart batts) served me well for 10 years thanks to the solar but I replaced them with new batteries just to be safe, and hopefully for another 10 years.

    1. It certainly is a compromise, and of course at 30 watt, this panel is only ever going to be a trickle or top-up charger.
I have dreams of much more extensive panels, but need the mounting hardware such as your davit arrangement first.
