Next fine-weather project- choker block
The next bit of decent weather we get, I'm going to climb up the bottom bit of the mast and install this unit, which came with the boat, but which has never been installed.
The choker is the line (rope) that draws the wishbone boom fore and aft (forward and backward) in relation to the mast (...mast).
The wishbone boom also swings from side to side slightly, and the choker line therefore goes through a fairly big angle as it leaves the standard block (pulley). This one was developed to pivot and keep the line on the block's sheave (rotating bit).
John, did you ever get your new choker block installed? I just bought one myself from Murray Cressman and was wonder how the install went, if you've gotten to it yet.
Hi Gary, No I haven't installed it yet. I anticipate the only issue being extracting the 4 stainless machine screws from the aluminum mounting plate. They will inevitably be seized.
For the non-nautical, what is it?
